Neurons are cells that are found in many parts of your body. But they especially gather in the areas of the brain, the gut and the heart. So neurons don’t exist merely in your brain. Doesn’t it make you wonder what their true purpose is?
A neuron is a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses, AKA a nerve cell. The brain has 40,000 of them as well as 2 billion muscle cells. The gut has 100 million neurons and also billions of other cells. The brain is made up of 100 billion neurons. The brain alone is considered to be the thinking organ.
We are supposed to think merely with the brain, but I think due to the evidence that we have that there’s a lot more to thinking than we once thought. For one thing, it has been shown that we do decision making based on emotional responses. As you go through the decision making process do you ONLY look at facts and then logically arrive at your decision or do you go through your wants and your desires as you decide to go with something or not?
The latter is about an emotional response.

Like it or not, deny it or not, decision making is based on your feelings from your likes, dislikes, what you want and what you don’t want by looking at the “facts.” Period.
Then you rationalize your decision with logic which are based on the facts. The problem with facts, are that they may be irrelevant to the decisions you want to make.
But where do these feelings come from? From your Heart and your Gut. It’s no accident that even in our everyday language we talk about intuition. The Heart and the Gut are where it comes from. These feelings and messages that seem to come out of nowhere, come from them.
It is an inner sense.
We have 5 physical senses – all of which can fool you. Take for instance, you’re standing in the middle of a road. The road is wide where you stand. As you look way down the road, it seems to converge to a point which makes it look like it disappeared. But you know it hasn’t! Our senses have a way of deceiving us, if we’re not careful.
Research shows us that in the fetus the Heart starts beating at 21 days. 21 days! It’s there to direct the growth and development of the fetus. It’s amazing how this all works and we don’t know why or how it’s done, but it does.
The brain doesn’t enter the picture until far down the road in that 9 months of gestation, but even after you’re born a lot of the body’s functions are going on without any direction at all from the brain. Your brain had to grow and change. Your brain can still do this, but like when you were young, you have full control over whether it shrinks or grows. Neuroplasticity works both ways.
So you must think with all three brains in your body. Your Heart and your Gut brains comprise intuition. If you heed them, then your decision making will only get better because you are well-rounded and much more aware of the factors that direct your life. Build trust in yourself.
Ask yourself, “Is this going to take me closer to my goals or farther away from them?”
When you know you’re making decisions for the right reasons, you’ll be leading your life in the RIGHT direction and you will feel much more confident to move forward. Don’t leave out two/thirds of the power you have at your disposal. The logical brain misses out on important cues.
