I’ve launched my crowdfunding campaign for a preliminary study of a pilot online brain training course for Post Concussion Syndrome. Here’s a surprising piece of news. For tall those neurologists and other MDs “prescribing” total and complete cognitive and physical rest – there is NO evidence that it works.
I repeat: there is no medical evidence that complete and total rest is good for treating concussions. In fact the opposite is true.
Why am I doing this research?
According to Danny George Thomas, MD, MPH, in his 2014 study, “Benefits of Strict Rest After Acute Concussion: A Randomized Controlled Trial”, “Recommending strict rest from the ED (Emergency Department) did not improve symptom, neurocognitive, and balance outcomes in youth diagnosed with concussion. Surprisingly, adolescents who were recommended strict rest after injury reported more symptoms over the course of this study. Although recommending strict rest ultimately did not significantly alter the amount of physical activity between groups, it did change the amount of mental activity (eg, school attendance). This is the first randomized controlled trial of rest strategies in pediatric patients after acute concussion. Although poor compliance with strict physical rest may have contributed to a lack of efficacy, previous adult studies that have assessed strict rest after concussion found similar results. Relander et al (1972) randomized admitted adult patients with mTBI to bedrest or active therapy and found that subjects in the active group were able to return to work 14 days earlier than the bedrest group.”

I’m excited and inspired by this research project. I’m excited by the possibilities. My hope is that the course that comes out of the research will be a huge stepping stone towards wellness for the research subjects as well as for the thousands who will later benefit!
Please donate when I launch my crowdfunding project!
You can definitely do something about concussions and PCS! We can’t stand back and allow a large minority of sufferers of concussion to wallow in their suffering. If you’ve ever been in TBI forums or in the personal blogs of PCS sufferers, you’ll see a lot of sympathy and a lot of hit n miss trials of this or that remedy.
Not good enough!
We’re talking about the brain. Because of what we know about neuroplasticity the brain can be changed consciously. Changed consciously to heal. Thousands, perhaps multiple hundreds of thousands stand to benefit from a simple yet comprehensive solution. They’re praying for it. Because they want to enjoy life again. They want to be useful again. They want to be independent again.
They want a normal life. They will never take that for granted again!
This online brain training isn’t just Cognitive Behavioural Training (CBT). There’s a lot more to making the brain healthy and stay healthy. At last people will find out what positive constructive actions they CAN take.
And let’s prevent another terrible tragedy. McCann Utu murdered his mother and younger brother and then committed suicide in May 2016. He was never the same after his concussion playing basketball. He followed the same old same old do-nothing “treatment.” Shame. Shame. Shame!

When you donate, I’ll keep you informed of my progress with the research program. Let’s DO it!
Please share this with your friends and relatives. Its time has come to take back control of your brain!
