Colin Kaepernick is making an impassioned statement about a serious American problem.  As much as I usually ignore sensational newscasts, I still get wind of the tragic things that seem to occur all too regularly in the US of A, our neighbours to the south.

Someone that does what this young man, Colin Kaepernick, has done is very brave. He uses the symbol of the American flag to make his point. A lot of people don’t like using the flag to draw attention to a plague of troubles. Maybe it hits home a bit too close.

Many people have belittled him. He has exposed himself to ridicule and condemnation.

I see Twitter feeds about him where people talk about him having one concussion too many. They’re saying things like he may be sick, that because he’s had concussions, his judgement is off, that somehow he’s insane and doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

That’s where I enter the fray.

According to my research about Colin Kaepernick, I haven’t found  a single verifiable reference about him suffering even one concussion. But there’s a certain segment in Twitter who are tweeting away about a head injury that led to his lack of judgement.

When someone takes a stand and draws a line in the sand and says very passionately how he feels about an issue, it’s because he has courage and knows what is abhorrent and also what should be instead of the current situation. It doesn’t mean he’s sick or suffering from a concussion. Just because he wants things to change, for the better by the way, doesn’t mean he’s brain injured.

He’s doing what an American who cares is doing. He’s expressing his heart felt thoughts. I didn’t know who Colin Kaepernick was before last night when I watched him very eloquently explain why he sat out the American anthem. I was spell bound by the utter sincerity in his voice and manner.

If you know someone who really is acting out strangely and not being themselves, perhaps there really is a hidden brain injury. Please direct them to 9 Signs of a Hidden Brain Injury. In 20 seconds or less, they can find out what has been happening to them. But sorry people, just because Kaepernick has picked an unpopular stand, he’s not the one with the concussion or Traumatic Brain Injury.
