LeBron James started out life disadvantaged and very poor. His mother did everything she could to create a safe stable life for him, but it was very tough. Then when he was in grade 4, he and sport became acquainted and well, that led him to one thing to another to another. He was so good at what he does, that Sports Illustrated put him on the front cover when he was just a Junior.
LeBron James is an excellent example of someone who rose far beyond where he came from. He is his own man. He has had to make decisions that were right for himself and his family. He made brave decisions even in the face of opposition, criticism, name-calling, jersey-burning, etc.
His move to the Miami Heat was well thought out. He knew he had to move away from his beloved hometown because it was suffocating him. He could not rise above it, so instead of struggling with it any longer, he decided to REMOVE it and go somewhere else.
Watch the video for the lessons this young man can teach others:
In summary, life is what YOU make of it.
If you’re afraid of what other people will say or think, then you’ve given up your rights to freedom of expression and movement.
If you’re afraid of other people judging you, then you will never reach your potential.
LeBron James knew he had to move in order to grow (up) and he has become incredibly successful because of it. He now has three NBA Championship rings for his fingers. He’s led his team mates to 6 consecutive trips to the NBA finals in 6 years. His hometown of Cleveland finally has something to cheer about – after 52 years, the long suffering fans of ANY sport in that city now have a huge change in momentum and energy.
It takes guts to do the right thing.
It takes guts to be a champion.
Every successful person has to go through challenges that make other people blanch and wither away.
It’s the same for healing. A brave person heals. A sickly person will not do the things required to get there. In order to heal, you must let go of the negativity in your life and in your mind and replace it with your goals. And by God, you better have some. Otherwise you will continue to meander and maybe just get by.
Life isn’t about just getting by. Life is meant to be lived and that does include standing up for yourself and for what you believe in. It includes going through, going around, and ignoring the obstacles and challenges that confront you. Then they have No power over you! No matter what people think of LeBron James, love him or not, he has done some phenomenal things with his life. Emulate how he got over his challenges. That’s all you need to know about LeBron James.
