Peyton Manning savoured his win at the 50th Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos.
Then he announced his retirement from NFL football on Monday, March 7, 2016.
Watch my video for a tribute to both top men at the Super Bowl:
It wasn’t an easy road through his illustrious 18 year career. Indeed, it is awesome that he was able to stay in the game for an entire 18 years. Not without disappointment, injury and mishap along the way.
But there was always faith and trust – in a higher being, in himself. Successful people don’t dwell on the wrongs and the mistakes that less successful people expend energy on. Even through the injuries, including the one he sustained during the 2015 – 2016 season, he never gave up.
That is a sure sign of an optimist and also a pragmatist because he believed and he knew that he could still lead. Of course, he couldn’t control every thing, but the team came together too. So many factors that neither he nor you can control – all outside of himself.
But he knew.
So he went up against a hot young Cam Newton. As I said in the video, there was respect there between the two men. Each so different in personality but still dedicated to their own cause. Or was it a calling?
I hope that Peyton Manning will go easy on himself as he dives into “retirement.” I hope Peyton Manning can find another purpose in his life, because football was it for a time. A good magnificent 18 years. But it’s time to savour, and then move forward to use those same talents to do something else great. I sure hope he’s prepared for that.
Be like Peyton Manning: do your utter best at what you’re doing now and then when it feels right (because you’ll feel all wrong and please admit it), move on and don’t look back. Your talents are required elsewhere!
