You have to stay flexible, and it has to BEGIN in your mind.
You can have a dream and do nothing about it. You can turn your dream into a goal. It doesn’t matter what that goal is. A dream remains just a dream until you take action on it. And that requires the creation of a plan. A plan on the other hand, won’t necessarily get you where you want to go. Here’s why.
Watch this video:
Apparently a study by Harvard University many years ago concluded that those who set goals actually achieved them compared to those who did not. It was surprising that only 3% of their sample did the goal-setting. And they were indeed the most successful. However, there is one other thing you must do. Just because you have a goal isn’t enough. I’m sure those same 3% must have created a step-by-step plan to get to their goal.
So you have a goal. If you’re serious about achieving that goal, then it’s important to actually write down the steps you’re going to take to get there.
No action. No accomplishment. You can’t just have a pie-in-the-sky. You have to take action with your goal.
Now the thing about plans is – they will change. Circumstances change. Maybe key players change. Change is going to happen. So a plan which helps you to focus on the achievement of that goal, is actually a living thing.
You will find that many parts of it, you have no control, but you will have enough control in order to achieve your intended goal. A plan isn’t written in stone. You can change it when you need to and I guarantee you will need to change it.
Stay flexible and nimble.
