With all this talk about the Gender Gap, the one thing that stands out here is that Jennifer Lawrence got it right.
She said that she had only herself to blame. I don’t think “blame” is the right word to use ever. I think it’s a lot more constructive to say that she learned a very valuable lesson. She learned that she had to negotiate harder. This implies that she must realize that she is valuable.
Value is in the eye of the beholder. If you don’t think much of yourself – no one else will.
Watch my video:
Build your confidence in yourself.
- Write down what you’re good at.
- Think about how you added value when you used those good qualities.
- What were the successful outcomes that came out of your participation?
- Keep track of your successes.
- Keep track of your skills.
- Keep track of what may have surprised yourself about yourself.
- Did you discover any talents that you hadn’t realized.
Self awareness and self knowledge are so important to both your mental, physical health as well as to your success. Answer these questions: Do you feel like a success? Do you feel worthy of that success?
Jennifer Lawrence was more concerned that people would think unkindly of her. The exact words Jennifer Lawrence used were “spoiled brat.”
Quite frankly people are more concerned about their own problems. They don’t think about you nearly as much as you think. Sure, there are busy-bodies and bossy-people around who look like that. But think how empty their lives really are, compared to yours. If they’re bringing you down, it’s because you’ve chosen to allow it. It’s an excuse and an out for you to achieve much less than your potential.
Do the exercise and prosper.
