“Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better” is one of the wisest statements ever made by a great scientist and spiritual man, Albert Einstein.
He wanted to remind us that the answers you seek are always around you. Take the change of seasons. We’re now well into Fall or Autumn. The verb “fall” means several things, but my favourite is used in this context: surrender. Surrender in turn means: give way.
Look deep into nature. At this time of the year, we are governed by Lung (LU) time with its interrelated Organ, the Large Intestine (LI). LU/LI are affected by the emotions, sadness and grief, and also by most emotions because it is next to the Heart, which also feels ALL emotions. When the “negative” emotions are allowed to grow and fester, you run into problems. If it is indeed your lungs that are weak, then you may experience all kinds of dis-ease related to the LU and LI, including something like chronic colds and flus and asthma to serious illnesses such as lung cancer, other lung diseases, and also breast cancer because the breasts are in the general vicinity.
Disease never happens by accident. Nothing in life ever happens by accident or by chance. Therefore, you have an opportunity to learn something and renew yourself. I’m very serious.
So let’s again, look deep into nature. Nature is ALWAYS changing. She changes without any regard to human life and opinions. She is constantly balancing, building, and tearing down. She is relentless without being spiteful or hateful. Nature just is.
Change is her forever companion. This is the ultimate lesson we can learn when we look deep into nature.
We humans are a part of nature. But what do so many do when they perceive change? It is with dread. It is with unhappiness. It is with inflexibility. These are the hallmarks for why people get sick, ill, and injured.
A woman recently approached me for help. She has long had digestive problems which have been diagnosed as Irritable Bowel System (IBS). Outwardly, she doesn’t seem to have the usual symptoms of IBS. But that’s what they’ve diagnosed. Over the past several years, she’s been coping with it, to no avail. No change. Her doctors don’t know why she’s got these problems and none of their management suggestions have helped. She left me with a huge clue though.
She’s been trying to force herself to like doing the things she used to like doing. I thought this was bizarre. She wants to go back to her past self and enjoy the activities she remembers enjoying but apparently doesn’t now.
She is also constipated.
When you’re constipated, according to Chinese Medicine, it is a sign of not being able to let go of old thoughts, activities, people, situations, etc. She hates her job but doesn’t want to leave it. There’s a lot in her life she doesn’t like including her body’s current condition.
Chinese medicine’s roots began with observing nature. It’s all about look deep into nature. The clues are in your illness or injury.
So wouldn’t it make sense to do something DIFFERENT? To think DIFFERENT? To make a change? But change is exactly what she doesn’t want.
Remind yourself to look deep into nature. Learn the life lessons she provides.
She moves through the seasons all the time. Fall is the time of the year to shed what is old. What are you doing right now to design your life? What are you dropping right now that makes you unhappy? Become happy again. It’s not worth trying to stay stuck and then point a finger and say, you don’t like something.
Change. It. Today. Look deep into nature and do what you know ALREADY what you should be doing!
