An article written by Lawrence Solomon, research director of Consumer Policy Institute, piqued my curiosity and then struck a chord! He talked about measles. This is a hot topic these days because there are more instances of it, presumably because negligent parents aren’t vaccinating their children 100% of the time.
BUT, Mr. Solomon’s research brings forth intriguing facts AND questions about modern medical policy:
1) In the early 1900s, measles killed millions of people a year.
2) In the industrialized west, the death rate actually dropped all by itself, so that by the 1960s, mortality rates dropped by a WHOPPING 98%!
3) Then the measles vaccine was introduced.
4) With the vaccine, death rates continued to fall into the 1970s. Some scientists think the vaccine contributed to it, but others don’t because they noted that MOST infectious diseases petered out during the 20th century. Naturally, all by themselves!
5) Studies indicated that improved nutrition and healthcare were the powerful reasons behind the dramatic drop.
6) Studies in the 1970s point to poor households and to those with other health issues, already weakened, being more likely to get measles. One researcher suggested that ONLY targeted at-risk groups should get the vaccine. Seems like a logical conclusion.
7) In the pre-vaccine era, measles in children was welcome because the disease was milder in children and it built up life-long immunity. As an adult, you’d have much worse symptoms and higher risk of death. This can also be said of mumps and chicken pox.
8) Today, measles during pregnancy have risen dangerously because mothers don’t have life-long immunity. The vaccine wears off.
9) This lack of immunity also causes a lack of immunity in today’s newborns, because mothers used to impart the antibodies to their babies.
10) Factors such as this have actually seen a rise in increased death rate for adults and the very young – reversing the decline in deaths in previous decades, according to one 2004 study.
11) A second dose of the vaccine became standard procedure, but in recent years, this too has failed.
Now “health experts” are scrambling:
1) Earlier childhood vaccinations
2) Boosters for adults,
3) Making vaccination mandatory.
But all of this is WRONG because with improved diet and much simpler and basic healthcare, we don’t need the vaccine. We never did.
Parents are educating themselves and making decisions. These people aren’t the unwashed and ignorant. According to a survey conducted by Pediatrics journal, unvaccinated children in the US have a mother who is at least 30 years old, who has at least one college degree, and has a household annual income of at least $75,000. Because there are NO studies showing that vaccinated kids are healthier than unvaccinated kids, the parents in these educated households have determined on their own what’s best for their children’s health.
This is evidence-based medicine?
Draw your own conclusions. The medicine of fear doesn’t understand how people become healthy and definitely not why they become sick. Yes, you must take measures to care for yourself and your family. Don’t relinquish responsibility for your well being to ignorance and to a massive conflict of interest. Many entities are making BIG profits.
