Achieving balance in your life may be difficult, but is attainable and possible. It’s a matter of choice, attitude, persistence, and discipline. You may just need some help to get it. When you are in balance, you usually cope with life’s ups and downs. You usually feel confident and capable. You usually speak your mind. You usually weigh your options but first you know you have options. You feel. You sense. You trust yourself. You may have some minor pain or even great pain, but you know why you have it. It is not a mystery.
Traditional Chinese Medicine helps to attain and maintain balance which equals health. It stimulates and tones the internal organs, regulates the hormones, calms the mind, affects brain function and the nervous system directly, diminishes pain, and so much more.
Being in balance also means these things:
1. You have no chronic or serious disease. Temporary illnesses such as the occasional cold is a good measure of the body’s immune system, however several colds in succession or one that won’t go away after several weeks indicates something is wrong.
2. You exercise a few times a week and can move easily as you desire.
3. If you are female, menstruation comes along without excessive Premenstrual Syndrome on regular monthly intervals. There is about 5 to 7 days of flow, easing off as it goes on. Flow is neither heavy continuously nor very light continuously. There may be pain but none that prevents you from going about your life or necessitates strong pain killers.
4. Your energy levels are high enough to get you through the day, enabling you to work & play.
5. You can fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.
6. You feel rested in the morning after waking up.
7. You are able to empty and calm the mind.
8. You trust yourself and therefore your intuition.
9. You let go of past wrongs. You forgive yourself. You stop paying for mistakes over and over.
10. You say, “NO” to others as necessary and say, “Yes” to yourself which gives you control.
11. You know that you have choices, but that doesn’t mean they are all easy.
12. Being decisive is empowering and when making decisions, you make sound ones.
13. You accept help from other people.
14. You are able to plan and to execute the plan in a reasonable time frame.
15. You let go of possessions. This does not mean you should not have them, but that you become detached from them.
16. You buy foods, cook, and eat mindfully with awareness about your health most of the time.
17. You allow your feelings, pleasant and unpleasant, to surface when they occur during the day. When they arise, a message is being sent to you. You accept how you feel, perhaps savour them or are quiet or you do something POSITIVE with them. They can spur you on to great things.
These are some simple things to strive for. Compare yourself to this list. What do you need to change to become more in balance?
