That’s Really Not the Point

I’ve been away over Easter for both some time off and attending a fantastic event called 10XEmpire by Brendon Burchard. He worked us hard in New York City and put us smack in the middle of Times Square. While I was there I received copies of the newspaper, USA Today.

I don’t read newspapers except for certain things I’m looking for – good news or useful news for my business. Of course I also get ideas to report and write on, too. But there was one story in USA Today that caught my eye. A reporter was complaining about the so-called happiness movement. He thinks it’s full of s___, essentially.

Why would someone write such an article and why would he be against happiness? He didn’t explain why, but here’s my take. Misery loves company – however, it’s very unproductive. You won’t succeed by being like the miserable masses.

I was hoping they aren’t the majority. Then a friend of mine at the conference shared this with me: 50% of the population (any) is wired to be worried and anxious. Okay, so any wiring is due to your beliefs and your habit of thinking! But you can rewire your brain and your beliefs.

So if you choose your own status quo, to be unhappy, NOTHING is going to change in your life. If you want to do what you want and be who you want to be, that is, finally take a stand and do something about it, then you’re going to feel good about it.

Anything worth doing requires hard work. But the satisfaction you’ll get out of it, will be so immense. So just do it. Do like Apple – make a dent in the universe. Make what you do with your life count for something.

Happiness is based on real substance – it’s not an airy fairy idea!
