What a Normal Period Looks and Feels Like

I know there are women who feel that a period is a nuisance, but your body has a way of cleaning itself out. Men don’t. And they could really use one.

Here’s what a normal menstrual cycle looks like:

1. It’s 28 days long.
2. Day 1 of the menstrual period is Day 1 of the menstrual cycle.
3. The period lasts 5 – 7 days.
4. Ovulation occurs 2 weeks after Day 1.
5. Then the period returns 2 weeks after ovulation (if no fertilization of the egg has occurred).

A normal period in a healthy woman produces a bright red flow, being heavier on the first day or so, then it lessens until it tapers off. There are very few if any clots.

There is no swelling or pain in the breasts before the period starts and any cramps are very manageable.

This is what a normal period looks and feels like. This is one of our standards of health. If you’re having a tough and painful experience, then there’s stress and you have to deal with it.

I’ll have more next time about the female reproductive system.
